The Rise of Cargo Jet: From Local Canadian Carrier to Global Cargo Airline

Cargo Jet is an international cargo airline based in Canada. Founded in 2001, Cargo Jet is the largest cargo airline in the country and operates scheduled and charter cargo services across the globe. The airline is renowned for its commitment to safety and customer service, and it has become a major player in the Canadian aviation industry.

The history of Cargo Jet dates back to 2001, when it was founded by entrepreneur D.A. Turner. Turner had previously been involved in the Canadian aviation industry and saw an opportunity to create a new cargo airline that would offer customers fast, reliable service. He purchased an aging fleet of Boeing 727s from a defunct American carrier and began operations with a single route between Montreal and Toronto.

Over the next decade, Cargo Jet steadily expanded its fleet and its route network. In 2006, Cargo Jet launched its first international service, connecting Toronto with Frankfurt. This was followed by a series of other international routes, allowing Cargo Jet to expand its reach to destinations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

In 2008, Cargo Jet acquired an Airbus A300-600F, the first of many aircraft in its current fleet. The addition of the A300 gave Cargo Jet the capacity to offer larger cargo services and allowed the airline to further expand its services.

In 2009, Cargo Jet launched its first transatlantic service, connecting Toronto with London. This route was quickly followed by more international services, including a route to New York. The airline also began to offer charter services, allowing customers to book cargo flights to any destination in the world.

The next major milestone for Cargo Jet came in 2011, when the airline launched its first scheduled transpacific service. This route connected Toronto with Shanghai and allowed Cargo Jet to reach new markets in Asia. The launch of this route marked the beginning of Cargo Jet’s transformation into an international cargo carrier.

In 2013, Cargo Jet acquired its first Boeing 737–800F, and in 2014 the airline established its first hub in Vancouver. This hub has allowed Cargo Jet to further expand its operations in the Pacific region and has helped the airline to become an important player in the cargo industry.

Throughout its history, Cargo Jet has had an impeccable safety record. The airline has never been involved in any air crashes or federal investigations. However, in 2020, Cargo Jet was forced to temporarily suspend operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline quickly recovered, and it is now back to full capacity.

Today, Cargo Jet is one of the largest cargo airlines in the world, with a fleet of more than 30 aircraft and routes to more than 250 destinations around the globe. The airline’s commitment to safety and customer service has made it an important player in the Canadian aviation industry and a major contributor to the economy.
