History

Wamos Air was founded in 2003 by the Spanish travel agency Globalia. The company initially operated charter flights for tour operators, but by 2007, the airline had begun to expand its operations to include scheduled services. As of 2021, Wamos Air operates a fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, including the Airbus A330, Airbus A320, Boeing 767, and Boeing 737.

Incidents

In 2015, Wamos Air Flight 0559, a Boeing 737, was involved in an incident in which the aircraft had to make an emergency landing in Rome due to a technical issue. The plane’s landing gear was not deployed properly and the aircraft had to make a “belly landing”, meaning it landed without its landing gear. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

In 2017, Wamos Air Flight 945, an Airbus A330, was involved in an incident in which the plane had to make an emergency landing in Barcelona due to a technical issue. The plane’s navigation system was not functioning properly and the aircraft had to make a “visual approach”, meaning it had to land without the assistance of the navigation system. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
