The Rise of Polynesian Blue: A Tale of Aviation Success in the South Pacific

The history of Polynesian Blue is a tale of modern-day aviation success. In 2004, this airline was created as a joint venture between Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand. The purpose of the venture was to create a competitive, low-cost airline that would provide competitive fares and service to the South Pacific region. From the beginning, the airline was focused on providing quality service and competitive prices to their customers.

The first aircraft in the fleet of Polynesian Blue was a Boeing 737-800, which was registered in 2004. This aircraft was the first of many that would serve the airline in the years to come. Over the years, the airline has added additional aircraft to its fleet, including Airbus A320s, Boeing 717-200s and ATR 72-500s. The airline has grown to a fleet of more than 30 aircraft, making it one of the largest airlines in the South Pacific.

Polynesian Blue has gone through a number of important milestones during its history. In 2006, the airline launched its first international route, from Auckland to Nadi. This was followed by the launch of another international route to Tonga in 2008. The airline has since expanded to serve other international destinations, including Tahiti, Sydney, and Vancouver.

In 2011, the airline launched a new loyalty program, Blue Miles, which provides customers with rewards and discounts when they fly with the airline. This program has been a great success, and has helped to attract more customers to the airline.

In 2014, Polynesian Blue was acquired by Virgin Australia, and the airline was rebranded as Virgin Australia Regional Airlines. This was a major milestone for the airline, and it has since become one of the most successful regional airlines in the region.

Over the years, Polynesian Blue has been involved in a number of incidents and accidents. In 2012, one of its aircraft was involved in a mid-air collision with a light aircraft, resulting in the death of eight people. The airline was also investigated by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in 2018 after one of its aircraft was involved in an incident where it flew too low during a landing approach.

Despite these incidents, Polynesian Blue has continued to grow and expand over the years. Today, the airline is a major player in the South Pacific region, offering customers quality service and competitive prices. The airline continues to look for new opportunities to expand its network and provide its customers with the best possible experience.
