Cayman Airways is the national airline of the Cayman Islands, an archipelago located in the western Caribbean Sea. The airline was founded in 1968 and began operations with a single Cessna 402 aircraft. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most respected airlines in the Caribbean.

In 1970, Cayman Airways acquired its first jet aircraft, a British Aerospace BAC One-Eleven. This aircraft was used on the routes to Kingston, Jamaica and Miami, Florida. In 1975, the airline added its first international destination when it began flights to Tampa, Florida.

Throughout the years, the airline has continued to expand its fleet and destinations. In 1976, it added its first Boeing 727-100 aircraft, which enabled it to expand its reach even further. In 1985, the airline added its first Boeing 737-200 aircraft and began flying to Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.

In the late 1990s, Cayman Airways introduced its first wide-body aircraft, the Boeing 767-200ER. This aircraft allowed the airline to expand not only its fleet but also its destinations. Today, Cayman Airways operates an extensive network of international flights, with destinations including Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and even Europe.





Over the years, Cayman Airways has achieved a number of important milestones. In 2004, the airline launched its first international hub in Miami, Florida. This marked the first time that the airline had served the U.S. mainland. In 2009, it became the first Caribbean airline to be awarded the Platinum Standard safety rating by the International Air Transport Association. In 2011, it also became the first Caribbean airline to be awarded the World Travel Awards as the Caribbean's Leading Airline.

More recently, in 2018, Cayman Airways became the first Caribbean airline to receive the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification. This certification is an internationally-recognized benchmark of airline safety and is awarded to airlines that meet the highest standards of safety.

Today, Cayman Airways operates an all-Boeing fleet and serves 13 international destinations. The airline is known for its friendly and efficient service, and is highly regarded for its commitment to safety.
