Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the national flag carrier of Pakistan and has been a major player in the aviation industry since its establishment in 1946. PIA is one of the oldest airlines in Asia and is the fourth largest in the region.

The airline was originally established as Orient Airways in Lahore, Pakistan on October 23, 1946. The airline was founded by a group of businessmen from the city and its first flight took place on April 16, 1947 from Karachi to Mumbai. The airline was then renamed Pakistan International Airlines in 1955.

PIA has an extensive fleet of aircraft, including the Airbus A320, the Boeing 777, and the ATR-42. The airline also operates several cargo planes, including the Airbus A300, the Boeing 737-200F, and the Airbus A310-300F.

PIA has undergone several major changes over the years. In 1971, the airline was nationalized and placed under the control of the Government of Pakistan. In 1979, PIA became the first airline in the world to use the Boeing 747-200, making it the first 747 operator in Asia.

In the early 1990s, PIA underwent a major rebranding campaign, introducing a new logo and a new slogan: “The Pride of Pakistan”. The airline also introduced a new livery and new cabin designs.

In 2009, PIA launched a major modernization program to upgrade its fleet and services. The airline purchased new aircraft, including the Airbus A320 and the Boeing 777, and upgraded its existing fleet of planes. The airline also introduced new customer service initiatives, including online booking, in-flight entertainment, and Wi-Fi.

PIA has had its fair share of incidents over the years. In 1992, a PIA Airbus A300 crashed near Kathmandu, killing all 167 people on board. In 2016, the airline was involved in a federal investigation into allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

PIA has come a long way since its establishment in 1946, and it is now one of the largest and most successful airlines in the world. The airline has a long and proud history of providing safe, reliable and efficient air transportation services to its customers.
