TunisAir is the national airline of Tunisia, and it has been operating since 1948. It was originally known as Compagnie Tunisienne de l'Air, and it was founded by the French-Tunisian government in order to develop commercial aviation in the country. The airline has since grown to become one of the largest carriers in Africa, and it has played a major role in connecting Tunisia to the rest of the world.

The original fleet of TunisAir consisted of three aircraft, two Douglas DC-3s and a single Douglas DC-4. In 2003, TunisAir became the first African airline to join the SkyTeam alliance, which is a major international airline alliance. This allowed TunisAir to offer its passengers access to a larger network of destinations and services.

In 2007, TunisAir became the first African carrier to take delivery of the Airbus A330-200. This aircraft allowed the airline to expand its long-haul services, and it enabled the airline to offer more efficient and comfortable flights. The airline has also taken delivery of several modern aircraft such as the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A321, which have improved the efficiency of its operations.

TunisAir has also had its share of challenges over the years. In 1985, one of its aircraft was involved in a fatal air crash, killing all 101 passengers and crew on board. In 1999, the airline was involved in a federal investigation into suspected corruption. The investigation resulted in the resignation of several executives and the airline was forced to restructure its operations.

Despite these challenges, TunisAir has managed to stay in business and continue to provide reliable services to its passengers. The airline has been able to modernize its fleet, expand its services, and increase its efficiency over the years.
