Tus Airways is a small, independent Cypriot airline based in Larnaca, Cyprus, with a domestic and international network of routes. Founded in 2006, Tus Airways is the only domestic airline in Cyprus and the oldest independent airline in the country.
The airline was established in 2006 by two local businessmen, Stelios Stylianou and Antonis Ktoris, who saw a need for a domestic airline in Cyprus. The airline began operations in 2008, taking delivery of its first aircraft, a Boeing 737-400. In 2011, the airline added two Airbus A320s to its fleet and began offering flights to destinations in Greece, Egypt, and Israel.
Tus Airways has grown steadily over the past decade, adding new destinations and expanding its fleet. Today, the airline has a fleet of 12 aircraft, including the Boeing 737-400, Airbus A320, and Embraer E170. The airline serves 19 destinations in Europe and the Middle East, including Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Israel.
Over the years, Tus Airways has achieved several important milestones. In 2009, the airline became the first Cypriot carrier to operate international flights. In 2011, the airline began offering flights to destinations in the Middle East, becoming the first European airline to do so. In 2013, the airline carried its one-millionth passenger, and in 2018, it launched its first scheduled flights to the United Kingdom.
The airline has also been involved in several incidents over the years. In 2013, one of its Boeing 737-400s was involved in an emergency landing in Greece due to a reported engine failure. In 2016, the airline was forced to suspend operations after the Cypriot government launched an investigation into its financial practices. The airline resumed operations a year later after restructuring its finances and passing the government’s inspection.
Today, Tus Airways is one of the leading airlines in Cyprus and is continuing to expand its operations. The airline is committed to providing safe, reliable, and affordable air travel to its passengers. It is also committed to improving its services and investing in its fleet to ensure that its customers have an enjoyable flying experience.
