Flair Airlines was founded in 2005 by CEO Jim Scott and President Steve Hankirk. The airline was initially established as a charter operator and provided services to tour operators and corporations. The airline's first aircraft was a Boeing 737-400, which was acquired in 2005. Flair Airlines' first commercial flight took place on May 1, 2007, when the airline flew from Abbotsford to Calgary, Alberta.

Since its inception, Flair Airlines has grown significantly and now operates a fleet of Boeing 737s and Embraer E-Jets. The airline currently operates 8 Boeing 737-400s and 6 Embraer E-Jets. Flair Airlines is also the first Canadian airline to introduce the Boeing 737 MAX into its fleet.

Throughout its history, Flair Airlines has experienced several important milestones. In 2008, Flair Airlines became the first low-cost carrier to launch a scheduled inter-city service in Canada. The airline also became the first Canadian airline to offer seat-back entertainment on its flights.
