ABSA Cargo was founded in 1962 as an air cargo service. It initially operated a single DC-3 aircraft, which was used to transport goods from Brazil to Venezuela. In the 1970s, the airline expanded its fleet and services to include larger aircraft such as the Boeing 707 and DC-10. As the airline grew, it began to offer international cargo services to destinations in Europe and the United States.

In the 1980s, ABSA Cargo added a fleet of Boeing 747 freighters to its line of aircraft. This expansion allowed the airline to grow its services to include express cargo services to destinations throughout South America and the Caribbean. In the 1990s, ABSA Cargo added the Boeing 727 freighter to its fleet, and began offering international cargo services to destinations in Asia, Africa, and Australia.

Throughout its history, ABSA Cargo has been involved in several major incidents. In 1984, an ABSA Cargo DC-10 crashed in the Amazon Rainforest, killing all 52 people aboard. In 2002, the airline was involved in a federal investigation for alleged illegal money transfers. In 2007, an ABSA Cargo Boeing 727 crashed in Colombia, killing all seven people aboard.

Despite these incidents, ABSA Cargo has continued to be a major player in the air cargo industry. In 2012, the airline announced a major partnership with Amazon to provide air cargo services to and from Brazil. This partnership has allowed ABSA Cargo to expand its services to include more destinations in Latin America, the United States, and Europe.

Over the years, ABSA Cargo has grown to become one of the largest air cargo operators in Latin America. The airline now operates a fleet of more than 30 freighters, and is able to transport goods to and from more than 150 destinations around the world. ABSA Cargo is also a major player in the air cargo industry, providing reliable and efficient services to and from Brazil.
