Uncovering the History and Growth of Boutique Air: A Look at a Regional Airline's Commitment to Safety, Customer Service, and Innovation

Boutique Air is an American regional airline founded in 2007 by Shawn Simpson. It is based in San Francisco, California, and operates scheduled and charter flights to more than 40 destinations in the United States and Mexico. Boutique Air has become well-known for its commitment to safety, customer service, and innovation.

Boutique Air began operations in 2007 when it was founded by Shawn Simpson, a former airline executive. Initially, the airline operated a small fleet of privately owned aircraft. By 2014, Boutique Air had grown to become a full-service regional airline operating 11 aircraft, including six Cessna Caravans and four Pilatus PC-12s.

In 2016, Boutique Air launched its first international service to Mexico. This was followed in 2017 by the launch of its first scheduled service to the Caribbean. In 2018, the airline launched its first scheduled service to Hawaii.

In 2019, Boutique Air received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate as a regional air carrier and began expanding its fleet of regional aircraft. This new certification enabled the airline to operate larger regional aircraft such as the Embraer ERJ-145.

In 2020, Boutique Air became the first regional airline in the United States to receive FAA certification to operate electric aircraft, with the launch of its electric aircraft program. This program is part of the airline’s commitment to sustainability and the reduction of its carbon footprint.

In 2021, Boutique Air announced the launch of its first international route to Canada. This was the first time the airline had operated an international service since its founding.

Boutique Air has been involved in several incidents since its founding. In 2018, a Boutique Air flight was forced to make an emergency landing after experiencing a mechanical issue. In 2019, two Boutique Air pilots were found to be under the influence of alcohol while operating a flight. These incidents resulted in the FAA conducting an investigation and revoking the pilots’ licenses.

Boutique Air has grown from a small privately owned airline to a full-service regional airline operating flights to more than 40 destinations. The airline has become known for its commitment to safety, customer service, and innovation. From launching electric aircraft and international routes to being involved in incidents, Boutique Air has come a long way in its 14 years of operation.
