The history of Air Serbia dates back to 1927, when the first commercial airline in the country, known as Aeroput, was founded. This airline was the first to introduce commercial air transportation in the Balkan region, and it remained the largest airline in Yugoslavia until the breakup of the country in the 1990s.

Today, Air Serbia is the national airline of Serbia and the flag carrier of the country. The airline was formed on October 26th, 2013 through the merger of the flag carriers of Serbia and Montenegro, JAT Airways and Montenegro Airlines. The airline was initially known as Jat Airways, however, it was rebranded as Air Serbia in October of 2013.

Air Serbia's fleet consists of a variety of aircraft, including Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330, and ATR 72 aircraft. The airline operates services to destinations within Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

Air Serbia has had a number of important milestones throughout its history. In 2014, the airline became an official member of the Star Alliance, a global airline alliance. This milestone allowed Air Serbia to expand its network and access to more destinations, and it also allowed the airline to offer its passengers a range of benefits and services.

In 2015, the airline launched its first intercontinental route to New York City, making it the first direct air connection between Serbia and the United States. The airline now operates numerous intercontinental routes, including flights to Toronto, Chicago, and Tel Aviv.

In 2017, Air Serbia became the first airline in the world to use an all-digital flight operations system. This system has drastically improved the efficiency and safety of the airline's operations and has enabled them to offer their passengers a more efficient and seamless experience.

The airline has also had a number of unfortunate incidents throughout its history. In 1983, one of the airline's aircraft, a Yugoslav-built Soko G-4 Super Galeb, crashed while carrying a Yugoslav defense minister, resulting in all 13 people on board being killed. In 2009, the airline was involved in a fatal accident in which an Airbus A320 crashed near Belgrade, killing all 11 people on board.

Despite these unfortunate incidents, Air Serbia has managed to become a successful, modern airline. The airline has continued to innovate and modernize, and it has become one of the leading airlines in the Balkans.
