Tracing the History of EgyptAir Cargo: Serving Reliable Airfreight Services since the Early 1940s





The history of EgyptAir Cargo dates back to the early 1940s when it was established as Misr Airwork. The name was changed to Misrair in 1946, and to EgyptAir in 1971. Throughout its history, the airline has provided airfreight services to customers across the Middle East, Africa, and the rest of the world.

EgyptAir Cargo has a long history of providing reliable airfreight services. The airline has a fleet of over 80 aircraft, including the Boeing 737 Freighter, Boeing 777 Freighter, and Airbus A330-200F. It also has a fleet of cargo aircraft such as the Boeing 767 Freighter, Airbus A300-600F, and Boeing 747-400F.

The airline has made significant contributions to the aviation industry. In 1973, it was the first airline to begin scheduled cargo services between Cairo and the United States. It also opened the first cargo hub in Cairo in the same year. In the 1980s, the airline was the first to introduce the use of computers for its cargo operations.

EgyptAir Cargo has achieved several milestones throughout its history. In 1999, it became the first African airline to be granted ISO 9002 certification. In 2003, it was the first airline to receive a Global Logistics Network award for its outstanding performance. In 2012, it was the first airline to receive a Global Air Cargo Award for its commitment to safety.





The airline has experienced a few incidents over the years. In 1999, one of its planes crashed in the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 217 people on board. In 2011, the airline was investigated by the United States Department of Transportation for alleged safety violations. However, the investigation was closed without any penalties.

Throughout its history, EgyptAir Cargo has grown and evolved. The airline has expanded its routes, increased its fleet size, and introduced new technologies. It has also focused on safety and quality, earning a number of awards and certifications. Today, it is one of the most reliable and respected cargo airlines in the world.
