ST Aerospace: A Look at the Innovative Global Provider of Integrated Aerospace Services

The company was established in 1980 as Singapore Aircraft Industries Ltd, providing maintenance and engineering services. It is a fully owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) and is headquartered in Singapore.

The company's primary activities include airframe maintenance, engine maintenance and overhaul, aircraft modification, cabin interior services, aircraft painting, engineering design and development, manufacturing, and other related services. It also provides aircraft ferry services, aircraft leasing and trading, and aircraft charters.

The company's fleet of aircraft consists of Boeing and Airbus aircraft, as well as regional jets. The company also owns several specialized aircraft, such as helicopters, for various mission profiles.

In 2013, the company opened its first aircraft painting facility in the United States. This facility was located in Fort Worth, Texas, and was the first such facility operated by the company outside of Asia.

In 2014, ST Aerospace was selected to provide maintenance and engineering services to the United Arab Emirates Air Force. This contract marked the company's first foray into the defense sector.

Over the years, ST Aerospace has been involved in several incidents, including the crash of an Airbus A330-343 in 2009. The aircraft, operated by Qantas Airways, crashed shortly after takeoff from Singapore Changi Airport. The incident resulted in the death of all passengers and crew onboard.

In 2018, the company was the subject of an investigation by the United States Department of Justice for alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The investigation was related to a contract between ST Aerospace and a Chinese state-owned company. The investigation was later dropped without any charges being filed.
