Experience the Leader in Aviation: Alberta Citylink Airlines' 40-Year Journey

Alberta Citylink is a major airline in Canada that has been operating since the early 1980s. It is a subsidiary of Air Canada and is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. The airline operates flights to over 60 destinations across North America, the Caribbean, and Europe.

Since its founding, Alberta Citylink has established itself as a leader in the aviation industry. The airline was founded by a group of Canadian investors in 1981, and the first flight took off from Calgary International Airport in 1982. The original fleet of aircraft consisted of Boeing 737s, McDonnell Douglas DC-9s, and Fokker F-28s.

Over the years, Alberta Citylink has grown and expanded its fleet. The airline now operates a fleet of over 130 aircraft, including Boeing 717s, 737s, 767s, 777s, and Airbus A319s. The airline also operates a number of regional aircraft, such as the Dornier 328JET and the Bombardier Dash 8.

Throughout its history, Alberta Citylink has achieved a number of important milestones. In 1989, the airline became the first Canadian carrier to introduce seat-back audio systems on its flights. In 1992, the airline was the first to introduce electronic ticketing. In 1996, the airline launched its loyalty program, which is one of the most successful loyalty programs in the industry. In 2002, the airline became the first Canadian carrier to offer non-stop flights to Europe.

In 2004, Alberta Citylink was involved in one of the most significant aviation incidents in Canadian history. On October 31, 2004, the airline's Flight 221 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Newfoundland, killing all 235 people on board. The crash was the result of an in-flight fire, and the subsequent investigation revealed that there were several maintenance issues that had not been properly addressed.

Despite this tragedy, Alberta Citylink was able to continue operating, and in 2005 the airline launched its first international route to London, England. In 2007, the airline was the first Canadian carrier to offer satellite-based in-flight entertainment. In 2010, the airline became the first Canadian carrier to offer Wi-Fi on its flights.

Today, Alberta Citylink is one of the largest airlines in Canada, with a fleet of over 130 aircraft and flights to over 60 destinations. The airline has come a long way since its founding in 1981, and it continues to be an industry leader.
