Discover the Convenience of New York Stewart International Airport: From the Big Apple to Beyond

New York Stewart International Airport is an international airport located in New Windsor, New York, about 70 miles north of New York City. The airport was originally built in the late 1960s and dedicated on September 11, 1970 by Governor Nelson Rockefeller, and named Stewart International Airport in honor of L. Stewart McLaughlin, the owner of the local farm on which the airport was built. McLaughlin had owned the land for more than a hundred years, with the first aircraft taking off from the field in the 1920s.

The airport initially had a single runway and only served cargo flights. In the mid-1980s, the airport underwent a major expansion and was re-dedicated in 1987 as an international airport. It now has two runways and a modern terminal building with a full-service restaurant and other amenities.

In terms of its airport code, SWF is short for Stewart-Newburgh-Middletown, which is the three-county area that the airport serves. The airport is located in the Town of New Windsor, Orange County, New York.

As of 2021, New York Stewart International Airport offers over 100 daily flights, mostly operated by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Allegiant Air, United Airlines, and JetBlue.
