Unlocking the AirBridge Cargo Story: Exploring the Milestones and Achievements of ABC, a Global Leader in Air Cargo

AirBridge Cargo (ABC) is one of the leading international cargo airlines and a member of Volga-Dnepr Group, which is a global leader in the air cargo transportation industry. The airline was founded in 1993, in Ulyanovsk, Russia, and is headquartered in Moscow. ABC has become a global player in the air cargo industry by providing reliable and efficient air freight services to customers all over the world.

The AirBridge Cargo fleet consists of thirty-nine aircraft, including twelve Boeing 747-8Fs, fifteen Boeing 747-400Fs, and twelve Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VDs. The airline also operates one Ilyushin IL-96-400F, which is the only wide-body freighter in Russia. ABC has the world’s third-largest fleet of Boeing 747 Freighters, and is one of the few carriers to have both the 747-8F and the 747-400F.

ABC’s mission is to “make air cargo transportation simple, efficient and reliable for our customers.” Over the years, ABC has achieved a number of milestones and has evolved to become a global leader in the air cargo industry.

The first major milestone for ABC occurred in 2001, when it became the first Russian cargo airline to receive the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification. This certification is based on IATA’s safety standards and helps ensure that the airline is providing a safe and efficient service.

In 2007, ABC opened its first international hub in Luxembourg, providing customers with direct access to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This milestone was instrumental in helping the airline expand its global presence and become a major player in the air cargo industry.

In 2009, ABC opened its first regional hub in the United Arab Emirates, allowing the airline to better serve customers in the Middle East and North Africa. This hub has since grown to become one of the largest cargo hubs in the region, furthering ABC’s reach and establishing it as a major player in the global air cargo industry.

In 2012, ABC began operating the world’s first and only 747-8F freighter aircraft. The 747-8F is the largest and most advanced freighter aircraft in the world, and its introduction marked a major milestone for ABC.

In 2014, ABC opened its second international hub in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This hub provided ABC with direct access to the Far East, allowing it to better serve customers in Asia and the Pacific region.

ABC has had a few incidents over the years. In 2008, one of its Boeing 747-400F aircraft was involved in a crash in Amsterdam. The cause of the crash was found to be pilot error and poor weather conditions. In 2012, a Volga-Dnepr Group subsidiary, AirBridgeCargo Airlines, was the subject of a federal investigation by the United States Department of Transportation (DoT) over allegations of price-fixing. The DoT found no evidence of price-fixing, but did find that the airline had engaged in anti-competitive practices.

Over the years, AirBridge Cargo has achieved many milestones and has become an important player in the global air cargo industry. With its fleet of advanced freighter aircraft, its network of international hubs, and its commitment to safety and efficiency, ABC has grown to become one of the leading international cargo airlines in the world.
