Uncovering the Fascinating History of Rosiya: From Dobrolet to SkyTeam Member

Rosiya is one of the oldest airlines in the world and boasts a rich and fascinating history. Founded in 1923 as Dobrolet, it was the first Soviet airline and the world’s first international carrier. The Russian government took control of the airline in 1929 and renamed it Aeroflot. The early years of the airline saw it grow from a small operation to a major international carrier.

The airline’s fleet was made up of a variety of aircraft, ranging from the Tupolev Tu-104 to the Ilyushin Il-62. The fleet has grown over the years to include some of the most modern aircraft available. Rosiya currently operates a fleet of more than 100 aircraft, including Airbus A320s, Boeing 737s, and the Sukhoi Superjet 100.

Throughout its history, the airline has made a number of important milestones. In 1952, Aeroflot became the world’s first all-jet airline, operating the Tupolev Tu-104. In 1965, the airline became the first to fly the Ilyushin Il-62, the first Russian-built jetliner. In 1977, Aeroflot set a world record for the longest non-stop flight by a commercial airliner, flying from Moscow to Montreal. In 1979, the airline opened the world’s first international route from Moscow to Tokyo.

In 1990, the airline was rebranded as Rosiya and the fleet was modernized to include more advanced aircraft. The airline has since expanded to include a number of domestic routes and international destinations in Europe, Asia, and North America. Rosiya has also become a member of the SkyTeam alliance, giving it access to a number of benefits and privileges.

Over the years, Rosiya has had its share of incidents and challenges. In 1972, an Aeroflot flight crashed in the Soviet Union, resulting in the death of 176 people. In 1978, a US federal grand jury indicted the airline for fraud and conspiracy charges. And in 1985, the airline was involved in a diplomatic incident when a Rosiya flight was forced to land in Afghanistan after being intercepted by Soviet fighters.

Despite these challenges, Rosiya has continued to thrive and grow. The airline has become one of the most successful and respected carriers in the world and has achieved a number of milestones. It has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1923 and has established itself as a major international carrier.
