The history of Global X is one of growth and expansion, from humble beginnings to a highly successful global airline. Founded in 1972, the airline initially operated small domestic flights within the United States. Over the years, Global X has grown to become one of the world’s leading international carriers, with a fleet of more than 830 aircraft and destinations in more than 180 countries.

The first Global X aircraft was a Boeing 767, which was delivered in 1983. Since then, the airline’s fleet has grown significantly, to include a range of aircraft types including Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s and A330s, Embraer 190s and more. In addition to passenger services, the airline also operates cargo and freight services, using a variety of different aircraft types.

In the early 1990s, Global X began expanding into international markets, opening routes to Europe, Africa, Asia and South America. This expansion continued throughout the decade, with the airline adding new destinations each year. By the end of the 1990s, Global X had become a truly global airline, offering flights to more than 130 countries.

In 1999, Global X launched its frequent flyer program, which quickly became one of the most popular loyalty schemes in the world. This program allowed passengers to earn miles for every flight they took with the airline, which could then be redeemed for free flights or upgrades. As a result, the airline’s customer base grew significantly over the years, as more and more passengers chose to fly with Global X.

Throughout the 2000s, the airline continued to expand, with new routes to Asia, the Middle East and South America. In 2008, the airline launched its first low-cost carrier, Global X Express, which allowed passengers to travel to more than 50 destinations around the world at a fraction of the cost of a full-service flight.

In 2009, Global X became the first airline to offer in-flight Wi-Fi, allowing passengers to stay connected while in the air. The service proved to be extremely popular, and is now available on most of the airline’s fleet.

Sadly, Global X has been involved in two major air crashes in recent years. In 2009, an Airbus A330 operated by the airline crashed in the Atlantic Ocean, killing all 228 people on board. In 2011, another Global X aircraft, a Boeing 777, crashed in Russia, killing all 44 people on board. In both cases, the cause of the crash was determined to be pilot error.

Despite these tragedies, Global X has continued to grow and evolve over the years, becoming one of the world’s leading international airlines.
